From September 28th 2013 the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag exhibition: 'The Anatomy Lesson: From Rembrandt To Damien Hirst', will showcase two Francis Bacon works in a show promising to give visitors the chance to get right 'under the skin' of their species, through works by artist ranging from Rembrandt to Hirst. 'The Anatomy Lesson: From Rembrandt To Damien Hirst' is a unique exhibition exploring art's fascination with the human body and thirst for knowledge, appreciating the need to look inside the body to truly understand human anatomy. This will be the first exhibition to bring together all ten of the surviving anatomy lesson paintings produced in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century, including Rembrandt's 'The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaas Tulp'.   Side by side with seventeenth-century 'autonomy lesson' paintings will be works on similar themes by top international classic, modern, and contemporary artist, including: Francis Bacon, Atelier van Lieshout, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Matthew Day Jackson, Lucio Fontana, Mona Hatoum, Paul Thek, Marc Quinn and – of course –Damien Hirst.
